THE SONG EDITOR

In the song editor, the patterns of each channel can be arranged in vertical rows. The song structure is scrollable vertically and has a total length of 256 patterns. Within the song structure, you just position the cursor (red rectangle) by tapping at the desired position. All editing is done via the upper and the lower menu.
To avoid unwanted playback interruption when starting the song editor, the current pattern selection from the sequencer keeps running until one of the song play controls is used.

Upper Menu

If the cursor is within the selection, the selection is filled with the patterns currently used in the sequencer. If the cursor is outside the selection, the selection's content is copied to the cursor position. The copied content then becomes the new selection and the cursor jumps ahead so that you can duplicate the same block again.

Set selection top at cursor position.

Set selection bottom at cursor position.

The selection is only vertical and always covers the entire screen width, so the horizontal position of the cursor doesn't matter for select and copy operations.
You can also select a block of four patterns length by double-tapping the cursor.

Play the selected area as loop.

Play the song, starting from cursor position.

Stop playback.

Song Playback vs Pattern Playback

Patterns and instruments can still be edited while the song plays. In the sequencer, the currently playing pattern is then indicated on the left of the pattern selection (instead of the pattern loop switch). Tap on this number to select the pattern.
When the song is stopped, pattern playback will resume at the original state as soon as you return to the sequencer view.

Scrolling during Playback

The song scrolls automatically during playback, however, scrolling is stopped once you place the cursor at a new position. You can then scroll manually and edit the song while it is playing.

Muted Channels

The orange bar indicating the playback position is striped if a channel is muted. To mute / unmute channels, switch to the instrument or sequencer view and douple-tap the corresponding channel letter.

Lower Menu
